Digital artwork is a form of art that artist Sheila Alden loves to create. As soon as she discovered how to use a computer, she began to figure out ways it could help her create art. Later she learned digital photography. Which led to the incorporation of photos into computer generated artwork.
Alden uses a variety of software applications to create computer generated artwork. Including Adobe software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. In addition she frequently uses a variety of filters to create effects. There are many avenues one can take if they want to create digital artwork.
Artists and graphic designers use professional software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud. However, free software is available, that will do the job. A couple of examples of vector software are Vectr and Inkscape. Vector editors create artwork using math and algorithms. The resulting artwork is pixel independent, and can be made as large or as small as you like. The resulting image’s quality does not degrade. Frequently this software are used for logos, technical illustrations, diagrams and flowcharts. Vector editors compliment bitmap editors.
For the purpose of image editing, one would use bitmap editors are more suitable. And there are many to choose from. Including Gimp, which has a huge following.
To be sure there are also many apps one can use on there phone as well. Canva is one of the more popular.
Alden’s technique changes according to the effect she is working to achieve. Sometimes she wants the result to have a soft look. Other times texture is important. To set the mood, colors can be toned down and muted, or pumped up. In other words saturation and vibrancy can be increased to create a bold look. The possibilities are literally endless.
